The Song of My Soul

The song of my soul runs deep
Dancing with the melody in my heart
Speaking through my waking dreams
Kissing visions seen through my eyes
Sprinkling rhythms in my voice
Finding the balance within.

The song of my mind is technical
Dissecting the truths in my heart
Creating realities out of dreams
Questioning the sights that I see
Resonating in the strength of my voice
Challenging the obstacles of my path.

The song of my heart is pure
Echoing the music of my soul
Pouring itself into my dreams
Seeking new visions of truth
Coloring emotions in my voice
Passionately evolving into existence.

The song of my spirit is joy
Giving my heart newfound peace
Driving the darkness from dreams
Shining light on the sights that I see
Adding harmony to my voice
Developing the concert within.

Darkness Remains

As the day comes to silence,
As the rain begins to fall,
As the sky kisses night,
The darkness remains.

It fills the earth with solitude,
It brings tranquility through pain,
It yearns to bring sincerity,
Even though the darkness remains.

Until lessons are learned,
Until secrets are told,
Until love is requited,
The darkness will remain.

It is the need for a change,
It is the desire for success,
It is the sincerity of the soul,
That shall keep the darkness away.

In Medias Res

There are so many things left unsaid
I wish I could take a moment to
Stop and understand myself
Must keep going
Don’t skip a beat

A new dawn indicates a new beginning
A way to start over
And not think about the past
In the flurry that is my life
I have forgotten myself

A way to hide behind the masks
A way to block out my heart
It sings to me at night
When all is left is the truth of darkness

This pain eats away at me
I don’t understand it
I don’t know how to live with it
It’s easier to just ignore it.

Dream. Believe. Achieve.

I. Dream

Imagine a world where children are free.
A world without poverty.
In this world children are treasured.
They have enough to eat.
They have a place to sleep.
They are loved unconditionally.
Their souls are nourished.
Their minds are challenged.
Children are royalty.

II. Believe

Have faith that you are living a life you were meant to be.
A life that will create a new legacy.
In this world your actions are your merit.
You must celebrate your individuality.
You must find your own voice to speak.
You must love yourself unconditionally.
Your soul must be nourished.
Your mind must be challenged.
You are the Kings and Queens of your destiny.

III. Achieve

Realize that a dream attained denotes new responsibility.
A single life that is changed creates a new beginning.
In this world you must continue to evolve and teach.
Your duty is to help others in this life succeed.
You must stir those other voices to speak.
Their love of self must be unconditional.
Their souls desire nourishment.
Their minds must be challenged.
They are to be the fruit of our regal destinies.

One of These Days

One of these days you’re going to see
all the wonderful things I was meant to be.
One of these days you’re going to see
that my spirit is strong and it liberates me.
One of these days you’re going to see
that success is measured individually.
One of these days you’re going to see
all the wonderful things I dare to dream.

One of these days I will take my wings
and soar up above the sky.
One of these days I will create
a new world through my eyes.
One of these days I will no longer feel
the need to escape my reality.
One of these days you’re going to see
all the wonderful things I dare to dream.

One of these days you’re going to see
that the world is filled with people like me.
One of these days you’re going to see
that in the end truth reveals painful ironies.
One of these days you’re going to see
that only individuals can accept responsibility.
One of these days you’re going to see
all the visions of me that I allow you to see.

Ethereal Parts

My soul is shattered glass
that opens wounds long healed.
My mind is a labyrinth of ideas
causing revolutions in its contradictions.
My spirit is breaking into freedom
breathing new fires in its path.
My olive skin is thick and leathery—snakelike,
protecting me from life’s misery.
My voice is sweet yet strong—hot lava honey,
that leaves an amber memory of desire.
My tears are cascades of intermittent
sorrows sprinkled with occasional moments of awe.
My laughter rings loud and echoes through the day
filling life with newfound energy.
My heart is seared with painful memories of love
that is lost and truths yearning to be told.

Don’t Allow Me

Don’t try to patronize me.
Don’t try to label me.
Don’t try to justify me.

Allow me to live my life
in the way that I see fit.
Allow me to turn your world
upside down in order to be real.
Allow my voice to be heard
through the corridors of your mind.

Don’t analyze me.
Don’t criticize me.
Don’t ostracize me.

Allow your vision of me to go
beyond your expectations.
Allow your point of view to
be just your own.
Allow your soul to be
overwhelmed by me.

Don’t forget that you promised
me a perfect loving world.
Don’t forget that I am the product of
your environment.
Don’t allow me to forget when and
how to go back home.
